What is Chlamydia?
Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the North East. It has no symptoms but, if left untreated, can cause some serious problems such as infertility. Chlamydia can be diagnosed with a simple and fast chlamydia test.
Why are we dual testing?
We will also test your sample for Gonorrhea, like Chlamydia many people have no symptoms and the number of cases has risen by 20% recently in the North East of England.
What does the Chlamydia test/dual test involve?
The chlamydia test/dual test is painless, quick and easy. We test for two infections but you only have to provide one sample. A swab or urine test for females and a urine test for males. You do not have to examined to take the test. You can do it in the privacy of your own home and simply post it back to use for free.
How much does it cost?
Not a penny. Unlike some testing advertised on the radio at £80 plus, this chlamydia test is part of the health service and is paid for by the council, it’s free to you if you live in South Tyneside or Sunderland.
How do I get my Chlamydia test result?
You will tell us how you want your results. We can write a letter (which arrives in a plain white envelope), phone you up to tell you, or we can send you a text if you give us your mobile number.
Who can get Chlamydia or Gonorrhea?
Anybody who has sexual contact with an infected partner, and remember many people have no symptoms and may not know they have an infection. Gay, Straight, Bisexual…these infections can affect anybody.
